Nguyen Thien Minh

Nguyễn Thiện Minh is a classical violinist, a lecturer at the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM), and the Music Director and Co-Founder of the collaborative art project, Re.imagine.

He began studying the violin at the age of seven at VNAM under the guidance of Dr. Nguyễn Trọng Bình, later continuing his training with People’s Artist Nguyễn Châu Sơn for over a decade. At 17, he became the first Vietnamese violin student to study in Norway.

Education & Excellence

International Training

Supported by the Transposition Project, he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with distinction at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, studying under the mentorship of Professor Stephan Barratt-Due.

Accolades

Minh has received several notable awards, including First Prize at Vietnam’s Autumn Concour in 2007 and First Prize at the International Concerto Competition in Indonesia in 2009. As a soloist, he has performed extensively with major ensembles, including the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, and the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra.

Teaching, Performing & Musical Versatility

Minh returned to Vietnam in 2017 to teach at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, dedicating himself to developing the local classical music community. As an educator, he customizes his curriculum to his students' individual needs, focusing on building strong fundamental principles that foster their independence as musicians.
